Maid/Matron of Honor/Best Man Responsibilities

WOW ok so I was looking through my old wedding planning stuff for inspiration for this weeks post and I came across these lists for attendants responsibilities. With these lists its amazing that they still look so happy on the wedding day (like they do in the photos below!!!)

These lists were taken from “the Wedding Planner” by Paragon Publishing

Maid/Matron of Honor

-To be the brides sounding board and confidante

- Generally to assist the bride during her wedding and on the day

- to plan and organize the bridal shower and bachelorette party (assisted by the bridesmaids)

- to help shop for the bride’s and bridesmaid’s dresses

- to coordinate fittings with bridesmaids

- to prepare an emergency kit for the day (assisted by the bridesmaids) (Hey I think someone else had this idea??)

- to act as a liason with bridesmaids during planning, rehearsal, and on the wedding day

- to help organize attendants at the rehearsal and on the wedding day

- to help dress the bride on the wedding day

- to assist with the veil and train, including knowing how to bustle the train after the ceremony

- to hold bridal bouquet during ceremony

- to witness the signing of the marriage license

- to offer a toast at the reception

- to dance and socialize with guests at the reception

- to ensure (with the best man) the bride and groom have a drink and food througout the dat

- to arrange (with the best man) to have a snack and champagne in the couple’s room after the ceremony or reception

- to assist the bride with her attire and personal items during transit from ceremony to reception and after.

The Best Man

- To be the groom’s confidant

- generally to assist the groom during planning and on the wedding day

- to help coordinate the formalwear with groomsmen

- to plan and organize bachelor party (with groomsmen)

- to act as a liaison through the planning, rehearsal and on the day of.

- to help dress the groom on the wedding day

- to stand at the altar; immediately beside the groom

- to hold the wedding rings during the ceremony

- to witness the signing of the marriage licencse

- to assist with the grooms attire and personal items during transit etc.

- to coordinate the return of rented formalwear

- to offer the first toast at the reception

- to dance and socialize with guests at the reception

- to assist (with maid of honour) with the collection and delivery to the couple’s residence

- to pay and/or tip vendors
